ABOUT THE
OKLAHOMA
STATE PARKS FOUNDATION
MISSION & HISTORY.
The Oklahoma State Parks Foundation began in 2003 as a joint effort of the State of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and Oklahomans who love the state park system. Over the last two decades, the Foundation has supported park programming, developed and disseminated environmental education materials and supported the professional development of the Oklahoma State Parks team.
Our state parks are the settings for wonderful memories - family camping trips, hikes with friends and festivals celebrating our communities. Not only are the parks important to the culture of Oklahoma, they are vital economic engines for Oklahoma's rural communities, generating over $350 million in travel spending annually, as well as 2,980 jobs in communities surrounding the parks.
The Foundation uses its resources to support park programs, protect park environments, preserve park history, fund park improvements and offer professional development opportunities to those employed by the Oklahoma State Parks system.
